This piece is part of the Sagano Garibaldi series by Calle Henzel, which explores the intersection between geometric structure and organic textile form. The collection brings together fragments of architectural order — linear divisions, triangular frameworks, and subtle grids — with the tactile softness and irregular edges that define Henzel’s broader design language.

Across the series, rigid geometries appear embedded within the surface rather than imposed upon it. Lines intersect and dissolve within dense wool piles, creating compositions that feel simultaneously deliberate and instinctive. The result is a tension between structure and erosion, where precise graphic elements emerge from richly textured textile fields.

Several designs take on free-form silhouettes, continuing Henzel’s exploration of rugs that exist beyond the conventional rectangular format. These irregular contours give the pieces a sculptural presence within the interior, allowing them to function not only as floor coverings but as spatial elements that shape the atmosphere of a room.

Materiality plays a central role throughout the collection. Deep black surfaces, tonal neutrals, and mineral-like textures interact with variations in pile density, allowing light to move subtly across the surface. From a distance the works appear restrained and graphic; at closer range the tactile complexity and craftsmanship become more apparent.

Certain designs within the series are also developed in traditional rectangular formats. Within these compositions the geometric language unfolds across a continuous textile field, offering a quieter interpretation that integrates naturally within architectural interiors while remaining connected to the sculptural vocabulary of the collection.

Through this balance of structure and material expression, Sagano Garibaldi reflects Henzel’s ongoing investigation into how drawing, architecture, and textile craft can intersect — transforming the rug into a medium that operates somewhere between design object, artwork, and spatial composition.
