Developed for Atelier Bowy C.D., part of Henzel Studio, this work by Alexander Díaz Andersson forms part of The Atelier Editions program — a series of limited textile works created in collaboration with artists, architects and designers. The piece is presented during Milan Design Week at Museo Nazionale Scienza e Tecnologia Leonardo da Vinci, within the historic spaces of Le Cavallerizze.
Díaz Andersson creates sculptural works that move between tradition and future-oriented design thinking. His practice draws from centuries of woodworking knowledge while incorporating contemporary fabrication techniques and engineering precision. Across furniture, interiors and architectural projects, his work balances industrial craftsmanship with the subtle irregularities of the handmade.
Born in Sweden and working between Mexico City and Los Angeles, Díaz Andersson’s practice reflects a dialogue between cultural contexts. His Scandinavian background introduced a language of restraint and structural clarity, while his work in Mexico has opened the practice toward more fluid, organic and dreamlike forms.
He is the founder of ATRA Form, a studio whose philosophy views beauty as an evolving condition rather than a fixed ideal. Within this framework, materials are understood as dynamic elements that shift, adapt and transform over time.
For this collaboration with Atelier Bowy C.D. and Henzel Studio, Díaz Andersson translates these ideas into textile form. The rug emerges as a spatial composition shaped by tension and balance, where structure and intuition coexist.
Presented within the architectural setting of Le Cavallerizze during Milan Design Week, the work extends Díaz Andersson’s exploration of material and form into the medium of hand-knotted textile, where surface becomes both structure and atmosphere.
